Bug tracking in Jira

Jira is a project management tool.

To learn how to use it we can go to Atlassion website and sign-p for a trial version. Give your username and password and choose a website name and register.

In Jira we can search an issue based on various options available like which project the issue belongs to ,what is its type, status or whom is it assigned to,does it contains a particular text.

Or we can go to more and choose priority and then choose whether it is high, low or medium priority.

To create a new issue in Jira we can click on left side of menu bar and then create an issue.

In the issue we need to provide the following

Edititing or reassigning a bug - We can click the edit button ,if we want to edit our issue. We can assign it to some different person here. For example a tester or team lead can assign this bug to some particular developer. The developer fixes that defect and re-assigns it to the tester. The tester tests it and then closes it by choosing done as the status .

Atcivity tab - We can go to the activity tab any time to check the history of the bug to see at what time it was opened, assigned fixed etc.

Comments tab - We can even check the comments tab to check all the comments etc. Any developer or tester that adds comments to the defect appear in the comments tab. For example a developer can add comments like the issue cannot be reproduced or that the issue has been fixed. Screenshots can be attached to comments as well
